Thomaida Polydorou holds a PhD in Civil Engineering (2014) from Kansas State University (USA), in addition to a BSc in Civil Engineering (2009) and MSc in Civil Engineering (2011), also from Kansas State University. Her doctoral studies were funded by the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute and led to “Determination of Acceptance Criteria for Prestressing Strand in Pretensioned Applications”. Dr. Polydorou joined the Cyprus University of Technology Department of Civil Engineering and Geomatics in 2017, when she was granted a Horizon 2020 Marie Curie Individual fellowship for the project SAFER – Innovative Concrete Barriers for Forgiving Road Infrastructure. Since then, she has actively contributed to Eratosthenes Research Center and its transition to ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence. Dr Polydorou’s scientific research interests include Sustainable Building Materials, Ultra High Performance Fiber Reinforced Concrete, Sustainable Ceramic Composites, Geopolymers, Incorporation of Recycled and Local Waste Materials in Cementitious Composites and Asphalt Concrete, Prestressed Concrete, Evaluation of Bond between Cementitious Materials and various Reinforcements, Construction Sustainability and Circular Economy.
