Dr. Kyriacos NEOCLEOUS

Education: Kyriacos Neocleous obtained his BEng degree (1st Class Honours) in Civil and Structural Engineering (1996) and PhD in Structural‐Concrete Engineering (2000) from the University of Sheffield (UK). During his Doctoral studies, he received an Overseas‐Research‐Students Award and a University of Sheffield Full Scholarship.

Professional background / participation in funded projects: Dr Neocleous was a research fellow at the University of Surrey (2000) and the University of Sheffield (2002-11). He was also employed as an independent Structural Engineering Consultant in Cyprus (2000-02).  At the University of Sheffield, he held an individual Marie-Curie Post-doctoral Research Fellowship (2002-04) and he has also participated and co‐managed various research projects on End-of-Life Tyre Recycling in Concrete, where he actively contributed to the development of commercial applications for the reuse of steel tyre‐cord fibres in concrete structures. At the University of Sheffield, he has also co‐supervised 10 PhD candidates and taught two MSc courses in Civil and Structural Engineering.  At the Cyprus University of Technology, Dr Neocleous participated in the STEELCOR RPF research infrastructure project (2012-15), the FP7 Anagennisis collaborative project (2014-17); while currently he participates in the EXCELSIOR Phase 2 Teaming project (2019-26) and the PVrosion RPF Integrated project (2019-22). He is the Quality Assurance Manager of the Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence.

Research: Dr Neocleous research interests cover a range of topics including: Construction sustainability, life cycle assessment and costing, circular economy, energy performance of buildings, reinforced concrete engineering, durability of construction materials, rigid pavements for industrial facilities and roads, probabilistic structural reliability, risk assessment, design philosophy, GIS.
