ErasmusDays 2026 in Lympia

On Friday 16 October the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence took part in Erasmus+ Days 2026 at Lympia Community Park, a public outreach event organised by the Municipality of South Nicosia–Idalion, together with IDEP Lifelong Learning.

At our stand, under the banner of EXCELSIOR, the EU-funded project through which ERATOSTHENES was established, Dr Mahmoud Mardini of our Cultural Heritage Cluster presented two Erasmus+ projects coordinated by the Centre:

  • CHANGES: the first playable prototype of our educational game, with working title “LAYERS”. In this 3D interactive game, players join a team of scientists from the Cultural Heritage Cluster of the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence and travel back in time, from a Cypriot village in 1962 to a Cypriot Bronze Age settlement and finally to the Ice Age coast of Cyprus, to discover how people lived with a changing climate. Visitors of all ages tested the prototype at our stand, and it was very well received; we look forward to rolling it out once fully developed.
  • DigiFarm, presented on behalf of our colleague Dr Maria Prantsidou: training that helps farmer advisors use digital tools for smart and precision agriculture. Its survey of 121 advisors in Cyprus, Greece, Italy and Ireland found that lack of training is the main barrier, and 78% want practical training.

Thank you to IDEP Lifelong Learning to the Municipality of South Nicosia–Idalion, Mayor Dr Stavros Hadjiyiannis and the Lympia team to Margarita Kyprianou, Head of Innovation Programs at Cyprus Seeds and to our colleague Andreas Andreou who supported the Eratosthenes booth throughout the event.
