Education: Mrs. Anastasia Yfantidou holds a BSc in Geography from the Harokopio University of Athens, where she was an active member of the Spatial Analysis Research Group. Her distinct performance was justified by the introduction of Big Data analysis, management and interpretation. She further holds an MSc degree with distinction in “Geoinformatics and Geospatial Technologies” from the Department of Civil Engineering and Geomatics of Cyprus University of Technology, where she is currently a PhD Candidate in “Remote Sensing, Geoinformatics and Earth Observation”.
Professional background / participation in funded projects: During her undergraduate studies in 2015, Anastasia was awarded a certificate of appreciation from HERE Map Creator Expert Community, as an expression of gratitude and recognition towards her valuable contribution in mapping points of interest and landmarks at Aegina (Greece). In 2016, she had an internship at GeoSynergy where her main responsibilities included Cartography, Remote Sensing and GIS applications for environmental management. The summer of 2017, she participated as a summer school instructor at the premises of the Cyprus University of Technology, while in 2018, she became part of the Remote Sensing and Geo-Environment Lab/ ERATOSTHENES Group. In 2019, she was seconded at Cloudsigma, Planetek Italia and Planetek Hellas, during her participation in the H2020 project “SEO-DWARF” under the framework of MSCA-RISE-2015. From December 2019 to May 2020, she was involved in the “ASTARTE” project, which is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the Republic of Cyprus through the Research Innovation Foundation. Since June 2020, Anastasia is working as a Research Associate at the Institute of Astronomy, Astrophysics, Space Applications and Remote Sensing of the National Observatory of Athens (IAASARS-NOA), which is a strategic partner of the “EXCELSIOR” project.
Research interests: Anastasia’s main interests lie in map production, processing of remote sensing data, monitoring of specific areas and observing their differences over time, fire risk modelling and assessment.
