Education: Marinos Papadopoulos has received his undergraduate degree from the University of Glamorgan (Wales), where he obtained the degree of BSc (Hns) in Civil Engineering and a Master of Business Administration. He is a PhD candidate on Cyprus University of Technology in the Department of Civil Engineering and Geomatics.

Professional background / participation in funded projects: Professional Backround: Marinos Papadopoulos has a research experience for 3 years and also professional experience as a Senior Civil Defence Officer. Marinos Papadopoulos, is currently the Director of the Paphos Civil Defence District. He took part in many activations of Cyprus Civil Defence during various disasters. He participated in a number Exercises as a coordinator, evaluator and as a participant, both in Cyprus and abroad. He has participated in the E.U. Civil Protection Mechanism Courses. He was responsible for the BeSafeNet Centre (www.besafenet.net) (Council of Europe). He represented the Republic of Cyprus in the EVA4CP project. (www.eva4cp.org) (EU) and in the e-self project (EU). He was responsible for the evaluation of the “Poseidon Exercise” and “Prometheus European Exercise”, European Projects. He represents Cyprus Civil Defence in the Decatastrophize, EU Project. He has represented the Republic of Cyprus in various meetings of the European Civil Protection. He is also a member of the Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (ETEK).

Research interests: His research interest focuses in the field of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems. Also, he is a PhD candidate on Cyprus University of Technology in the Department of Civil Engineering and Geomatics
