Education: Mr. George Tzivas holds a BSc in Business Administration and Finance. He is a graduate from the Technical School of Nicosia (1976) and has attended distant studies in Architecture, Arts and Decoration at AKTO and ITE schools (1979-1980) and studied at the EUROPA College Journalist School (1983-1984).
Professional Background / participation in funded projects: He has been a journalist in 6 newspapers and has published more than 5500 newspaper and magazine articles (PROTI, TA NEA, ANEXARTITOS, FILELEFTHEROS, ELEFTHEROTYPIA, KATHIMERINI, ELEFTHEROTYPIA, ANT1 magazine, ANTILOGOS magazine, TRIIRIS, etc.), 3 books (ΟΙ ΕΓKΛΩΒΙΣΜΕΝΟΙ ΤΟΥ ΝΟΤΟΥ, Αναμνήσεις Αποσιωπητικών, Η μυστήρια δεσποινίς σεροτονίνη), over 280 space pages and over 190 science pages in Greece and Cyprus. He is the responsible for the foundation and operation of the first private radio station named RADIO AFTODIATHESI. Moreover, George has conducted around 122 interviews, 100 radio shows (RIK) and has organised approximately 6000 events and over 800 educational events. Some highlights are, the Apollo 11 Moon Landing. Interest for Space event in 1969, the Memorial event for the 45 years from Moon Landing, numerous concerts in Greece and Cyprus, Events for the World Astronomy Days and Earth Hour at the Presidential Palace under the President’s aid in 2015 and the Memorial Event for half century from Moon Landing (50 events) under the aid of Foreign Minster Nicos Christodoulides in 2017. He was the Features editor at POLITIS newspaper and the Chief Publishing Manager at Sunday’s POLITIS newspaper in 1999-2000. Previously, he has worked in Graphics Office (1978) and as a designer at MECHEL CONTRACTOR Engineering Office. He has also carried out Education Astronomy programmes for all levels of education in Cyprus with 1400 events, 7000 lectures and 23000 students (2004-2020).
He is the founder of Science and Space Café (2015), with the grand opening by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nicos Anastasiades, the founder of ΙΔΕΟΔΡΟΜΙΟ company for development and science promotion, and the founder of the ΑΣΤΕΡΟΣΧΟΛΕΙΟ in Nicosia (2017). George was a member of the National Cyprus Committee for Athens 2004 Olympic Games. In 2016, he submitted a proposal for the Troodos Observatory that was approved and funded, and in 2018, a research proposal for the 3-years ASTROTOURISM project was approved by the Cyprus Research Promotion Foundation.
