Education: Chrystalla Antoniou is currently a Post-Doctoral researcher in Plant Stress Physiology group at the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT). She obtained her BSc in Agricultural Sciences at the Cyprus University of Technology. She recently received her PhD in Plant Molecular Physiology/ Biotechnology from the same university. During her PhD, she received a scholarship of excellent by Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation.

Professional background: Chrystalla as a PhD student visited four times the Department of Plant Systems Biology, UGhent at Belgium to perform experiments related to her PhD. During her visits, she was trained in a range of techniques including cellular and kinematic analysis, Gateway cloning, generation of transgenic lines and RNA seq analysis. Chrystalla has experience in laboratory supervision of ungraduated and master students undertaking their research project dissertations. She also worked (2013-2018) as a teaching assistant at CUT in several laboratory bachelor and master courses such as Plant Physiology, Plant Anatomy Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Advanced Molecular Techniques & Bioinformatics.

Research: Her research interests include the study of natural and synthetic compounds on promoting plant growth and the evaluation of priming agents which enhance plant tolerance against several abiotic stress factors at trancriptomic, proteomic and metabolic level. She co-authored so far in 16 research articles (h-index: 8), 29 abstracts in Conference proceedings and 2 book chapters.
