Education: Dr. Andreas M. Savvides obtained his BSc (five-year degree) in Agricultural Sciences/Plant Protection from Aristotelion University of Thessaloniki (GR), and his MSc in Plant Sciences/Greenhouse Horticulture from Wageningen University and Research (NL). He holds a PhD in Plant Ecophysiology from Wageningen University and Research (NL).
Professional background: Andreas is currently a postdoctoral and teaching fellow in Plant Stress Physiology Group and a teaching fellow in European University Cyprus. He is a co-founder and director (until 2018) of the Agrisearch Innovations LTD, a company aimed at applied agricultural research and consultation in Cyprus. During his MSc internship he worked as a research assistant in WUR Greenhouse Horticulture (NL). During his BSc internship, he worked as a research associate in Agricultural Research Institute (CY).
Research: Andreas is employed by CUT as a Research Associate and Special Scientist. His research interests are: plant’s response to abiotic factors, plant phenotyping and sensing technologies, the evaluation of priming agents towards the amelioration of climate change-related abiotic stressors such as drought, heat and salinity, the evaluation of chemical compounds towards improved growth under normal conditions.
