Professor

Education:

  • Sc. in Computer Engineering & Informatics, School of Engineering, University of Patras, Greece (1993)
  • D. in Computer Engineering & Informatics, School of Engineering, University of Patras, Greece (2000)

Professional background / participation in funded projects: Andreas S. Andreou is a Professor and Vice Chair of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Informatics of the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT). He is also the coordinator of the Computer Engineering and Informatics degree and the founder/director of the “Software Engineering and Intelligent Information Systems Research Laboratory” at CUT (http://seiis.cut.ac.cy). He served the academia from various posts in the field of “Software Engineering”: Lecturer and Assistant professor, Dept. of Computer Science, University of Cyprus (March 2002 – February 2006, March 2006 – August 2009), Associate Professor and Professor, Dept. of Electrical Engineering / Computer Engineering and Informatics, Cyprus University Technology (September 2009 – March 2017, April 2017 – today). Prior to joining academia, he worked in the industry at the posts of Programmer-Analyst, of Director of Requirements Analysis and Development and of IT consultant in Banking Software Systems. He also served as Software Engineering and IT consultant in several major software projects in Cyprus, including the Integrated Software System for the New Nicosia General Hospital (13 sub-systems – over 20M euro project) and the Cyprus Cultural Portal (Ministry of Education). He attracted research funding of over 2.5 million Euro (for the Cypriot partner) from the European Commission (FP7, H2020, Euromed, etc.), the Cyprus Research Promotion Foundation, as well as the local market, working as Coordinator, Principal or Co-Principal Investigator.

Research interests: He published over 50 journal papers and over 100 conference papers (peer reviewed), he co-authored 11 book chapters, edited 4 conference proceedings and 2 special issues, and co-authored 1 book. He successfully supervised and graduated 7 PhD students and over 25 master students. Currently he supervises 2 PhD students. His research interests include: (i) Software Engineering, with emphasis on methods and models for software testing and reliability, and project management; (ii) Web Engineering and Mobile Software Engineering, with emphasis on methods and techniques for software system analysis, design and implementation, as well as quality issues; (iii) Intelligent Information Systems, with emphasis on the use of artificial neural networks, genetic algorithms, fuzzy logic and hybrid systems for modelling and decision support; and, (iv) Computational Intelligence in Software Engineering, with emphasis on developing intelligent methods and models for software cost estimation, software project management, software reliability, project scheduling and resource allocation, recommender systems, software testing, and Cloud computing and services.
